The “Wish-Cycling” Behavioural Audit

“Millions of tons of non-recyclable material enter the recycling stream annually, a phenomenon known as ‘Wish-Cycling’—the act of tossing an item into the blue bin in the hope that it will be recycled, despite it being a contaminant.
The Divinity® Research Team hypothesizes that the current recycling signage system (the ‘Chasing Arrows’) is intentionally deceptive, creating a false sense of ecological safety. This study aims to quantify the gap between Consumer Intent (saving the planet) and Industrial Reality (contamination), proving that a system requiring a PhD to navigate is a system designed to fail.”
